Sound Design is more than a “score”, a song, or foley. Its the ability to create an image using sound.
The soundscape is a way to create imagery using sound alone. The sample below are my impressions of urban escape while filming my Windy Hills Documentary using actual recorded sounds, effects, and minor scoring. The Documentary is at the bottom of this page.

The score is a way to convey emotions. The score below was a substitue for the Movie “Adam”. The goal is communicate love and innocence.

You can take a simple Midi File – then using the power of sound and reinstrumentation expand it to be a performance in a cathedral with pipe organ and symphonic instruments. The example below is Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D Minor – the Phantom of the Opera.
